The Anarchist Women's Congress in Wroclaw was a major event for us. We
began planning it in the fall of 2025 and worked for many weeks to
ensure its success. It was the first such a massive event dedicated to
women in a long time, and we are extremely pleased to officially call it
a success. The meeting was organized on February 21, 2026, in Wroclaw by
the Federation of Anarchist Women's Community and several individuals
from outside this organization.
Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to meet, talk, and exchange
experiences with dozens of women from all over Poland. We estimate that
around 60 people attended this event from at least seven cities:
Wroclaw, Katowice, Poznan, Warsaw, Kielce, Bielsko-Biala, and Lublin.
Together, we listened to numerous lectures and panels, including: We
discussed women in anarchism, revolution, and queerness from a Polish
and feminist perspective, the growing conservative and right-wing
anti-women sentiment across Europe, and the situation of the feminist
revolution in Rojava. Lengthy discussions took place about what changes
we would like to see in the anarchist movement and in our country's
society, how we can organize, what individual organizations in different
cities are struggling with, what we face on a daily basis, and what
topics we shy away from or are afraid to discuss. All the statements
were translated into English thanks to the help of the indispensable
Klekta group! Several stands with books, zines, soaps, and many artistic
items appeared. We also managed to agree on another convention next year
and even selected a city for it! After the theoretical part, a
demonstration was organized, "Enough with the power of billionaires,"
against the exploitation of children, women, and the planet by the
wealthiest segment of society. Although the preparations took a lot of
time and effort, we believe it was a worthwhile effort. As organizers,
we are very grateful to everyone who participated in the Congress. This
initiative showed us that it's worth developing women's initiatives and
creating spaces for women. We hope that, moving forward, we'll have more
of us at future congresses and meetings!
We are working on a longer report from the entire Congress and
individual lectures. Some of these were recorded, and we will try to
edit and publish these videos for those who couldn't make it to Wroclaw.
