Newsletter, Year 2026 and tagged wages, government, repression,
emigration, Meloni. ---- While the international political situation
deteriorates further, driven by the redefinition of spheres of influence
between different areas of the planet and the resurgence of the imperial
dream of an ever-increasing number of international actors, Prime
Minister Meloni is juggling various summits between the managers of a
perennial conflict that increasingly eludes the rules of international
law and denies that very law, which for 80 years had pretended to
guarantee a life of relations between different state entities, with
rules regularly violated when necessary by the ruling classes in the
states wielding force. With Donald Trump's rise to power, they have
decided to act to protect their interests and support their hegemonic
projects and implement a redistribution of spheres of control over
territories.
Navigating this growing conflict of interests has proven to be a source
of stability for Meloni and her government, compared to the nonexistent
positions of the reformist left. The left, astonished by the complexity
of the situation, already supports criminals and hypocrites who
intervene in international disputes. It embraces the interests of the US
Democrats and prostitutes itself ideologically and strategically to
their political project, with the ambition of being part of a decadent,
media-narcissistic, and Satanist power structure, as the Epstein case
demonstrates, under the illusion of gathering at least the crumbs of
capitalist accumulation and the perpetuation of global exploitation.
The emergence of new players on the international scene (such as the
BRICS and, why not, even the neo-imperial states) has had the merit, if
nothing else, of forcing all those in power to drop their masks and act
without hypocrisy, coming out in the open and showing their unethical
scoundrel faces, concerned only with living their lives intensely and
hedonistically, accumulating wealth, conquering and holding power,
exercising it beyond and above the limits defined by law and ethics,
violating principles that, however hypocritical in their manifestation,
guaranteed an apparent world order, which has been promptly and
occasionally violated.
It was above all the international situation that allowed Meloni to
preside over a long-term government that, it must be acknowledged, is
implementing much of her program of restructuring class relations and
transforming social sentiment.
The fascists in government are aware that by pursuing a strategy of
distancing the entire population from political participation, the
number of voters is reduced; the government system supports a certain
"physiological" quota of opponents, and allows a minority of voters to
assume leadership of the country. They successfully aim to create a
social bloc that once would have been defined as "corporate" to support
their government action in exchange for participation, albeit limited,
in the appropriative division of the country's wealth.
By manipulating public opinion through the astute use of the most subtle
yet effective tools of mass communication, the Meloni government has
implemented a plan for social reform. It faces a reformist left,
shattered in its values and capabilities, discredited for its inability
to conceive a unified political project on a social level, for having
embraced the values, ideologies, and goals of its class adversary,
convinced of the demise of its core class and incapable of redefining
it. Proof of this is the left's complete detachment from any reference
to the problems of the exploited and marginalized. This is demonstrated
by the fact that slogans such as increased wages, revitalization of
industrial and agricultural production, protection and expansion of the
national health service, funding of schools and their targeting of
social needs, the right to housing, and protection of the land have
become empty buzzwords, slogans that are briefly revived and waved
around and then abandoned. Thus, the government was able to toughen all
criminal legislation through a systematic dismantling of freedoms,
starting with the freedom to express one's thoughts and dissent, and
even simply to disagree with the government's positions. Using the
Trojan horse of immigration to repress, the government has introduced
into our legal system rules that increasingly restrict the right to
express social dissent and discontent with the growing poverty of an
ever-larger portion of the population. It has not only repressed
recreational gatherings (raves) to sanction the questionable behavior of
some, but has also proceeded against environmentalism by repressing
Gandhian and non-violent dissent, taking advantage of this to introduce
repressive rules on more general active dissent, such as the occupation
of streets with marches in defense of jobs, etc. of the industrial
apparatus, to the progressive impoverishment of the weakest social
classes, which was followed by the generalization of repressive
activity, extending it to forms of youth dissent and places of social
aggregation such as social centers, pushing those who frequent and
support them to criminalize their behavior in order to more easily
implement repression with the consensus of that segment of public
opinion that supports or does not notice the progressive erosion of
freedom through the so-called security measures that have had no other
effect than to restrict the space for dissent and criminalize every
minimal act of deviation, encouraging the spread of a seemingly more
widespread cowardice.
Abhorring social dissent, we moved into a phase of prevention, drawing
on the historical experience of the right, dusting off the measures
adopted by fascism during visits by the Duce or the hierarchs, when the
police and the regime arrested potential protesters the day before, all
of whom were previously registered (see the introduction of 12-hour
preventive detention during demonstrations). By using the growing need
for material goods, essential to life, as both a tool and a stimulus,
fueling the growth of starvation wages, miserable working conditions,
precarious labor relations, and slave-like exploitation, constructing a
hierarchy of competing classes and estates, modeling itself on the
classification that the Spanish Empire employed for the populations of
its American colonies, where it created a hierarchy of personal rights,
placing the idalgo (provided he was born in Spain) at the top and the
soulless Indians at the bottom, the Meloni government aims to destroy
that essential part of the constitutional guarantees anchored in the
right to equality in freedom.
It must be recognized that the government's strategy of dismantling the
opposition, any opposition-both reformist and social-has been effective
and is achieving many of its objectives. Proof of this is that the
reformist left lacks a program of its own; in other words, it follows
suit, it doesn't know what to do, it thrives on rhetorical expedients,
on demands for stopgap measures, clumsily trying to limit the damage,
which now, with the referendum on justice, is beginning to lay siege to
and dismantle the Constitution.
It is once again no coincidence that this attack on post-war
constitutions, especially those of anti-fascist orientation, and
certainly among these the Italian one, constitutes the characteristic
feature of the actions of the Right-wing International, which
effectively operates under the banner of the MAGA movement but which is
articulated in many branches, many components such as the
ultra-liberalism of Miley, the neo-Francoism of Vox Spain, the
neo-Nazism of Allianz für Deutschland, the militarist neo-fascism of
Ukraine, to name just a few of the organizational embodiments of this
increasingly hegemonic political component.
It was not only the war in Ukraine that polluted the wells, but also the
reintroduction through it of the principle that war is a legitimate
instrument, putting forward the defense of the aggressor nation as a
principle to be defended, without analyzing previous events and tracing
the origins of the crises, as well as the reasons for the conflict,
ideologizing it to ennoble it, but at the same time losing the sense of
reality, of the objective analysis of the facts, of the causes and
interests at stake, of the objective analysis of the forces deployed,
with the result of reaching the conclusion that a nuclear power equipped
with at least 6,000 atomic warheads can be defeated by an army, however
combative and motivated, that exercises the noble art of destroying
resources to rebuild on the battlefield, among the dead and the blood,
the suffering of the populations, the capitalist accumulation and allow
a band of bloodthirsty and corrupt oligarchs to enrich themselves with
the proceeds of war that notoriously ennoble and fuel every theft, every
oppression by denying the interests and needs of people. A Necessary
Response
The situation has deteriorated to the point that a response is
increasingly necessary, and it must be found starting from every small
crevice, from every small struggle, however peripheral, from every
resistance to oppression, however marginal it may seem to the unfolding
of the central power of states.
A halt or at least a reduction in wars is certainly a precursor to these
struggles, because without the massacre of peoples on the battlefields,
their capacity to fight, their energies, are distorted by fighting their
true enemy: the exploitation of labor by capital. The minds of the
people are poisoned by nationalism, distorted by the defense of class
interests; the anger resulting from exploitation is perverted and used
against other proletarians, as an antidote, as an inhaled narcotic to
distance the individual from reality and make him act in an alien world
in which all his resources and strength are exhausted.
In the shadow of war, profits grow, bosses grow fat, the narcissistic
hedonism of the rich is fueled, the basest instincts and most trivial
desires manifest themselves with the aim of finding a fulfillment that
buffers the alienation that arises from the awareness of being used,
exploited, violated, sold, and of being powerless to do anything to end
this situation.
A small but highly effective step is to address the referendum deadline
and seize the opportunity to say no, in defense of constitutional values
and the separation of powers, the foundation of the rule of law. This is
the trench behind which we stand to oppose this project that destroys
the coexistence of our rights and our freedom, fully aware that we have
only taken the first step and that inequalities remain, poverty and
exploitation are expanding, regenerating, corroding the exploited's
capacity for struggle and resistance. Therefore, the next step is to
begin removing the causes and instruments of domination and power
through which the aspiration for equality of peoples is pursued and
implemented.
