(en) France, Lamouette Enragee: An Afternoon at Madeleine's (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]
Date

One might regret the low turnout at Madeleine's this Wednesday afternoon
for the discussion on the workers' survey and class relations today.
However, that would be to miss out on the pleasure of meeting up with
old friends, but also, and especially, in the company of new faces!
Gathering a dozen people in Boulogne-sur-Mer on a sunny afternoon to
discuss the centrality of the working class and the class struggle in a
period dominated by the rhetoric of urgency-climate change, anti-fascist
sentiment, electoralism-is already quite an undertaking. Add to that the
fact that most of those who were to be discussed-those who produce
today's working class-were, by necessity, at work, and one can
appreciate the relative nature of the low turnout and all the more the
positive aspects of the meeting.
So, what were they? First, the setting provided for the debate, the Chez
Madeleine bookstore, was pleasant, central, and facilitated discussion
and fostered a sense of connection. We warmly thank the organizers for
their invitation and encourage you to visit them, if you haven't
already. We should also mention the quality and diversity of the
contributions and testimonies. Those present belonged to different
generations of workers, but all shared the same radical critique of
work. The search for concrete solutions sparked lively discussions,
proof, if any were needed, that this issue deserves collective
attention, not just theoretical consideration.
Thank you again to all those who contributed their contributions to
making this a fruitful and enjoyable event. This debate will lead to
others as our research progresses.
You can still get your copy of the book "Before You Travel the World,
Take a Tour of the Workshop" at Chez Madeleine, 54 rue Faidherbe in
Boulogne-sur-Mer, and while you're there, relax with a coffee or a good
beer.
See you soon on the streets!
Boulogne-sur-Mer, February 27, 2025.
