(en) Italy, FAI, Umanita Nova #24-26 - Libertarian Chords: Anarchist Song Festival 2026 (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Fri, 9 Oct 2026 08:54:45 +0300

On at least one thing, everyone agrees: anarchist songs are the best! --- From the 19th century to the present day-spanning from the "gloomy end of the dying century" to the triumph of artificial intelligence and the crisis of collective hopes, and taking in everything from resistance movements to punk-song has accompanied anarchist struggles. "Our homeland is the whole world," "Love binds natural affections together," "Even if you believe yourselves absolved, you are still involved," "Knives to slice the bread of friendship"... folk poets have provided slogans and ideas to the labor movement.

The call for a world of social justice, free from war and individual oppression, has always found tangible support from anarchists-and the accompaniment of their songs. For anarchists love life, and what better way to live it than to come together-each with their own voice-amidst collective anthems and individual counter-melodies?
That is why, on Friday the 2nd, Saturday the 3rd, and Sunday the 4th of October 2026, three days will be dedicated to anarchist song.
The event will take place in Massenzatico, in the province of Reggio Emilia-a location where anarchists have gathered for years for a great convivial feast centered on food: "The People's Kitchens" (*Le cucine del popolo*).
This, too, will be a celebration where one can listen to old and new songs, be captivated by the sound of guitars, follow the tales of storytellers-both traditional and modern-and experience the inclusive spirit of community choirs.
Spread across the three days-alternating between moments of listening and pure celebration, between the physical and the poetic-these diverse forms of musical expression will each have their own dedicated moments.
- The days will be defined by discussion, in-depth exploration, and workshops. - Afternoon performances and talks will combine songs with history and the personal stories of individual singers-ranging from renowned singer-songwriters like De André and historical figures like Pietro Gori to contemporary voices like Paola Nicolazzi.
- Late afternoons will feature short, individual performances.
- After dinner, there will be captivating concerts and moments of shared music, with various choirs blending their voices with those of all the participants.

A grand celebration of music, inspired by libertarian thought.
Anarchist song: a phenomenon that is in some ways indefinable, yet-like revolution itself-finds its moment at the intersection of the joy of participation and liberation from taboos and chains.
Mark this important event on your calendar: October 2, 3, and 4, 2026. The First Anarchist Song Festival.

ANARCHIST SONG FESTIVAL

OCTOBER 2-4 | VIA BEETHOVEN 78, MASSENZATICO (RE)

From October 2 to 4, 2026, the first edition of "Accordi Libertari" (Libertarian Chords)-an anarchist song festival-will take place at the *Cucine del Popolo* in Massenzatico (Reggio Emilia). The event will feature musicians, singer-songwriters, scholars, and choirs.
It will be three days of book presentations, music, reminiscences, reflections, concerts, and collective singing, all centered on the rich libertarian repertoire spanning from the birth of internationalist socialism to the present day.
An exhibition of records will be set up during the event; alongside explicitly anarchist albums, visitors will find vinyl records by various libertarian singer-songwriters that illustrate a significant portion of the history of the anarchist songbook. This event has been organized from the ground up and will be free from external patrons or overseers, specifically to maintain a distinct cultural independence alongside a self-managed approach.
Our festival will be a three-day celebration of libertarian culture held in an evocative setting; there is no admission fee, prices are kept affordable for all, and musicians will be compensated through a self-financing initiative.
We are therefore launching this voluntary fundraising drive so that we can all work together to build this inaugural gathering dedicated to anarchist song.
