(en) France, SocLib: AFGHANISTAN: A COUNTRY WHERE STATE, RELIGION, AND CAPITAL TRAMPLE HUMAN DIGNITY TOGETHER (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Thu, 8 Oct 2026 08:35:53 +0300

"In Afghanistan, the State, religion, and capital unite to crush all freedom. This country, scarred by domination and injustice, carries within it the seeds of a different life: that of a people standing tall-masterless-in pursuit of dignity and revolt. An account from a comrade. --- This is not the Afghanistan of colonial borders, nor that of a corrupt nation-state, nor that of maps soaked in blood. It is an occupied land-occupied not only by the Taliban but by all forms of domination: the State, ethnicity, religion, patriarchy, and capital.

The Taliban-the current rulers-are neither a legitimate government nor representatives of the people. They are merely an armed group that, wielding the whip of Sharia, American weaponry, and a brutal logic, has silenced the people and erected a caliphate upon the ruins of hope. What is happening in Afghanistan is not merely religious tyranny; it is the endless reproduction of a system of domination-under a new name, beneath a different turban.

The Taliban embody the logical continuation of a state structure that, since the very creation of Afghanistan, has served only as an instrument to repress the majority for the benefit of a minority. The State has never been anything other than an iron cage for human beings-a tool of internal colonization. Anarchism opposes this deadly, bloody order. We do not view the State as a savior, but as the enemy of all freedom-whether it takes the form of the Taliban, corrupt republics, the Islamic Emirate, or sham democracies." Afghanistan is a land of a thousand human hues. Yet, power structures have turned these colors into rivers of blood. Through their Pashtun-centric ethnic dominance, the Taliban merely perpetuate a historical discrimination that has, for centuries, marginalized or sought to eliminate non-indigenous minorities. For us anarchists, any power based on ethnicity, race, or lineage is a historical sickness to be cured through radical, transnational solidarity.

Today, Afghan women are not only deprived of their rights; they are systematically excluded from all social life. The Taliban have closed schools to girls, banned women from working, and shackled their bodies in the name of honor and Sharia law. But have women given up? No. From the streets of Kabul to secret prisons, from clandestine manuscripts to stifled cries, they are the initial sparks of revolt. Anarchism views women not as victims, but as the starting point of the revolution.

While children freeze to death, Taliban commanders thrive on the bloody trade of Iranian oil and Qatari dollars. Afghan capitalism has revealed its true face: a violent, religious, ethnic, and tribal capital. Anarchism offers an alternative to this hell: an economy of sharing, local cooperatives, collective ownership, and the free distribution of resources based on need.

And yet, hope remains. In the heart of the darkness, young people-without flags, leaders, or formal structures-are weaving clandestine networks of resistance. Women teach in secret within private homes. Exiled poets become the voice of the voiceless. Media outlets disseminate news covertly. These are the seeds of liberation. If nurtured, they will blossom into a future of freedom. "The Afghan people are oppressed and tortured by the State, religion, ethnicity, and capital. Yet these oppressions also hold the promise of a new birth. Anarchism is an invitation to this painful birth: a liberation without leaders, an order without a State, a life without masters. We do not believe-but we hope. Not an empty hope, but an armed hope, angry and filled with love. Afghanistan must be rebuilt-from the bottom up, by the people, rising from the ashes of revolt and goodness."
