The Libertarian World publishing house is pleased to announce the
release of: Robocracy: When Robots Meet AI, by Patrick Albert ----
Available from September 5, 2026 ---- They fascinate and frighten us. We
believe they depend on a battery to function, but in reality, they are
already capable of producing their own energy by eating, defecating, and
reusing their own excrement. They render the notion of the Anthropocene
completely inadequate for understanding reality, and if the sinister
expression "great replacement" is to have any meaning, they alone are
responsible.
They are the robots. They have plunged the world into the Mekhanecene,
the age of machines, delivering humanity into the hands of a handful of
the super-rich and states, bound hand and foot, defenseless against the
double bind of capitalism: "Consume and obey." Worse still, they can
simply eliminate its ability to decide not only what should be produced,
but also how that production is used, prioritizing the military function
to the detriment of all others...
This book is a collection of articles published in Le Monde libertaire
at the beginning of the decade; it has its own history. The two authors,
Hépha Istos and Nuage Fou, have placed two major recent events in
perspective: the Yellow Vest uprising and the coronavirus pandemic, to
show how robots have infiltrated our lives and how humanity is rising up
against them.
A preface and an afterword frame these texts, situating them within
their theoretical, political, and philosophical context and,
importantly, outlining libertarian strategies for combating this
ultimate danger.
