Repression is a constant in government action against those who engage 
in social opposition. In a situation of repression that we might call 
systemic, the actions of the Meloni government, with their unmistakably 
fascist roots, demonstrate a clear intensification of the ongoing 
repressive decrees we have witnessed recently. ---- Widespread 
impoverishment, growing precariousness, the spread of the war economy, 
and the exhaustion of all margins of social mediation are leading to a 
loss of consensus to which the government is responding with specific 
repressive measures necessary to quell social discontent.

In light of all this, the narrative of repression as a response to a 
security emergency must be totally rejected.

The government's authoritarian grip is attacking us at every level: the 
criminalization of young people; the increasingly severe restrictions on 
the freedom to demonstrate; preventive detention; the denial of free 
legal aid for appeals against the expulsion of migrants, while the "law 
enforcement" forces are guaranteed coverage of legal costs up to €10,000 
for each level of judgment; the increase in administrative repression 
which provides fewer guarantees and possibilities for defense; the 
measures aimed at breaking solidarity among prisoners, making them 
passive and encouraging denunciation with the specific crime of rioting 
in prisons and CPRs; the criminalization of confrontational union 
activity; the regulations that further target those who oppose major 
projects and environmental devastation with direct action practices.

These devices, which target dissent, are increasingly being implemented 
through economic pressure on movements and activists.

The attacks on self-managed social spaces, which were actually carried 
out by previous governments, represent for this government an offensive 
with primarily propaganda value, which however, in practice eliminates 
spaces for alternative social interaction and collective organization.

These targeted actions and the tightening of security measures are 
accompanied by a general tightening of discipline that spills over into 
workplaces and schools. One example is the militarization of schools, 
which will intensify in anticipation of the recruitment drive linked to 
the proposed reintroduction of compulsory military service.

The real beneficiaries of this situation are the bosses, the real 
instigators of these policies. The blackmail of employment, the high 
cost of living, the cuts to services, and starvation wages, in the will 
of the ruling classes, should make the workplace increasingly places of 
discipline and social reproduction.

In the general repressive framework, the desire to specifically target 
the anarchist movement emerges.

We call for solidarity with those affected by repression and support 
those fighting for a free and equal world.
