(en) Brazil, Capixaba, FACA: Let's honor Octavio Alberola with struggle and revolution! (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Fri, 5 Sep 2025 07:33:06 +0300

Comrades, the death of comrade Octavio Alberola (1928-2025) is not just the departure of a longtime activist, but a call to action for our generation. His legacy teaches us that anarchism is not a dead theory, but an incendiary practice against capital and the state. From the streets of San Sebastián to the prisons of France, Alberola showed that libertarian ethics are built through direct, uncompromising struggle. Today, when fascism resurfaces disguised as democracy, when imperialism crushes Gaza, when the Brazilian state massacres favelas, and Chinese capital enslaves workers, there is only one possible response: organization, rebellion, and action. The memory of our comrade is not honored with speeches, but with revolutionary fire in our veins!

Alberola left us a clear lesson: anarchism that does not confront power is treason. He didn't hesitate to attack Franco, kidnap fascists, or defy prisons because he knew that freedom is not negotiable. While reformists call for "historical patience" and left-wing parties bureaucratize the revolt, we anarchists must radicalize the streets. Whether in the Greek occupations against austerity, the popular uprisings in Brazil, the wildcat strikes in China, or the Palestinian resistance, our task is to dismantle the state wherever it arises. Alberola didn't shy away from the fight-and neither can we!

History will not forgive cowards. Capitalism advances with genocides, ecocides, and global precariousness, and only direct action can stop it. Alberola knew that symbolic explosives, general strikes, and international solidarity were more powerful weapons than votes or petitions. In Brazil, where militias and large landowners reign, in Greece where police beat immigrants, in China where unions are illegal, and in Gaza where Zionism practices ethnic cleansing, the answer is the same: self-management, mutual aid, and insurrection. There is no "peaceful transition" possible-only rupture!

Reformism is the death of revolution. Alberola rejected the Spanish "National Reconciliation" because he understood that pacts with the state are defeats. Today, when false leftists ask us to trust "progressive" governments, we must remember: Lula imprisoned anarchists, Syriza handed Greece over to the banks, and in China the CCP crushes any dissent. Our struggle is against all power, without illusions. Numerous historical examples show the way: self-defense, horizontality, and internationalism. Alberola lives in these struggles!

Comrades, the 21st century will be anarchist or it will not be. Octavio Alberola is gone, but his spirit ignites every occupation, every barricade, every gesture of rebellion. We will honor him not with candles, but with gunpowder. Not with lamentations, but with popular organization in the neighborhoods, in the factories, in the fields. From Brazil to Palestine, let us raise the black and red flag of social revolution. As Alberola shouted until the end: "Not God, not Boss, not State!" The struggle continues-and victory will be ours!

Liberto Herrera.
