greatest disaster, four unnatural causes that are closely related to the 
ways of life, work and governance under capitalism converged. The first, 
of industrial origin, is global warming generated by greenhouse gas 
emissions from factories, heating systems and vehicles, which causes 
extreme weather events such as DANA (isolated high-level depression). 
The second, of a political nature, is caused by the incompetence of the 
state and regional administrations, whose irresponsible passivity and 
negligence can be qualified as murder in the legal sense. The third, of 
an economic and social nature, is the complete suburbanization of the 
agricultural periphery of the city of Valencia, that is, the 
transformation of the municipality of Huerta[Horta in Catalan]into a 
large suburb of hostels and a polygonal logistics, commercial and 
industrial zone. The fourth, a consequence of the previous one, is the 
general motorization of the suburban population, enforced by the clear 
separation that frantic development has established between places of 
work and residence.

Global warming, the product of the colossal burning of fossil fuels by 
industry and transportation, has been called "climate change" by leaders 
to mask its economic nature. Eco-dressing, which staged the elites' 
apparent opposition to global warming, promoted "green" capitalism. 
These, shaped by uncontrolled urban planning and the establishment of 
cramped road infrastructures, make the most childish "decarbonization" 
measures (electric charging stations, landscaping, use of bicycles, 
etc.) ridiculous. What "sustainability" can exist in these essentially 
unsustainable metropolitan spaces?

The ruling class and the political class in general are not absolutely 
inept in all areas; on the contrary, they show great helpfulness and 
remarkable ingenuity when it comes to their own interests, which are far 
removed from those of the people they administer.

"Only people can save people" is a spontaneous slogan that has appeared 
since the beginning of the tragedy. The complete lack of administrative 
response was fortunately compensated by the presence of thousands of 
volunteers from all over Spain who carried out the most urgent tasks: 
cleaning mud and dirty things, cleaning houses and streets, caring for 
the elderly and sick, distributing water and food... Teenagers from the 
capital, teachers, the disabled neighbors, cooks, firefighters, doctors, 
nurses, mechanics, farmers, impromptu work groups, canteens, mobile 
pharmacies, dispensaries, housing and even field hospitals to respond to 
current emergencies. When the state fails, when bureaucratic scum making 
bad decisions make excuses, when fake news floods social media again, 
civil society emerges. Many volunteers, with no other motivation than 
solidarity and empathy with the victims, set to work.

During the first five days, those affected by the floods survived 
without state aid. This leads us to think that once people organize and 
free themselves from obstacles, especially in less extreme conditions, 
the state and the political class are redundant. Nobody really needs it. 
Horror, inhumanity and fake politics go hand in hand.
