SCANDINAVIAN ANTIFASCIST VICTORY!

The 17th of May is Norway's National Day of Independence. The past two
years have seen an increased nazi violence and antifascist resistance
as Norwegian nazis attempt to transform this day into a nazi
celebration. This year, Norway's nazis mobilised throughout
Scandinavia in order to take over this holiday celebration in Oslo. 

Since the Swedish police have begun to react to and close down nazi
"white power" concerts in Sweden, Norwegian nazis saw a chance to help
their Swedish brothers by organising a concert in the Oslo area on the
evening of Saturday the 16th. The concert was thought to attract
Scandinavian nazis to a planned to march through central Oslo on the
17th.

Antifascistisk Aksjon - Oslo organised a broad manifestation against
the planned nazi concert in Oslo on Saturday evening. Unions, anti
racists, leftists and antifascists from other Scandinavian countries
were mobilised to the event. 2 000 participated at the manifestation
and approximately 350 of these later travelled by subway to the Oslo
suburb where it had become apparent that the concert would take place.
The police realised that they could not guarantee the safety of the
circa 100 gathered nazis and closed and evacuated the concert
location. The Norwegian police had earlier in the day refused entry
into the country of approximately 30 Swedish nazis at the border.
Later in the evening approximately 40 nazis were arrested in central
Oslo. All were armed and circa 10 Swedes in the group were deported.
As a culmination of this nazi defeat, no demonstration was held in
Oslo on the 17th and instead thousands of anti-racists participated at
an outdoor concert unhampered by nazi violence.

During the course of the weekend, many nazis and their vehicles who
unknowingly came into the sights of patrolling antifascist were
effectively put out of commission.
