TROOPS OUT OF THE GULF!
LIFT THE SANCTIONS ON IRAQ!
Saturday, 28 Feb. International Day of Action Rally. Auckland NZ.
Assemble outside Aotea Square, Auckland, at noon. March on US Consulate!
On Saturday 28 February at noon, anti-war activists in N.Z., the U.S.,
and in many other countries, will hold anti-war protests to send a
message to the U.S. that world-wide opposition to its unilateral war
threat to Iraq is mounting. [Similultaneous actions will take place in
Wellington and Christchurch.]
Despite the apparent compliance of Iraq to the Security Council
conditions, the US reserves the right to bomb Iraq at any time if it
fails to comply with UN resolutions which require Iraq to open up all
sites to UN inspections looking for "biological and chemical" weapons.
The hypocrisy of this is mind-boggling. Iraq's weapons, few as they are,
all originated in the West, some as recently as 10 years ago! Iraq is
surrounded by the US and Israel armed to the nuclear teeth.
These UN resolutions were imposed on Iraq before the bloody Gulf war in
which over 200,000 civilians were killed. Since then economic
sanctions have caused an estimated 1.5 million deaths, most of them
children. In enforcing these resolutions since 1991 the UN has shown
itself to be no more than a policeman for the US in starving Iraq into
submission. A further war would be a crime against the Iraqi people.
The Auckland Gulf Crisis Committee calls on all opponents of the US-led
war machine to rally to our platform:
(1) We condemn the US-led military forces renewed attack on Iraq and
call for their withdrawal from the region.
(2) Under any circumstances whatsoever, we condemn plans by the US
and Israel to use nuclear weapons against Iraq.
(3) We oppose all mobilisation for New Zealand military involvement
in the Gulf and support all those who refuse to go.
(4) We call for immediate lifting of sanctions and embargoes against
Iraq and condemn the UN and belligerent governments, including New
Zealand for the seven years of untold death and suffering inflicted on
Iraq by these means.

Next Meeting: Tuesday March 3rd 6-30 pm at Trade Aid Shop at 177
Karangahape Rd. ph. 3771367. All welcome!
Emergency Picket. Same day bombing starts 4-30 pm
at US Consulate , cnr Shortland & O'Connell Streets.
