(en) France, Monde Libertaire - Statement by the Anarchist Front of Iran and Afghanistan regarding the protests in Herat (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]
Date

On June 9, brave residents of Herat protested the arrest of women by the
Taliban's morality police in the city of Jibrayil, Herat Province. This
popular demonstration in Jibrayil once again demonstrated the deep gulf
that separates the people's hopes for a free life from the repressive
policies of those in power. --- The women and men who took to the
streets under the slogans of "Bread, Work, Freedom" made no demands
beyond the most basic human rights: the right to live in dignity, the
right to work, the right to freedom, and the right to participate in
determining their own destiny.
According to available information, at least two people were killed and
dozens injured as a result of violent clashes with demonstrators. At the
same time, many of the injured did not seek medical attention for fear
of being identified and arrested. This situation threatens not only the
right to freedom of peaceful demonstration, but also the right to
medical care and safety. We stand with those who, without resorting to
violence, raise their voices for freedom, social justice, equality, and
human dignity.
The voice of the women of Herat is the voice of a people who, under the
most difficult circumstances, are defending their right to a free life.
Therefore, we call on anarchists around the world, free media,
grassroots organizations, social movements, and conscious people
everywhere to pay attention to the situation in Herat, to trust the
victims' accounts of repression, and not to remain indifferent to the
trampling of the rights and fundamental freedoms of the Afghan people.
