contradictions qui entourent l'industrie du football et les intérêts
qu'elle mobilise. Les médias tentent de la présenter comme un tournoi
destiné à unir l'humanité autour du ballon rond, mais l'Assemblée
antimondialiste de Santa Ursula, le quartier de Mexico où se trouve le
stade Azteca, dénonce le fait que la FIFA la gère selon des modèles
extractivistes. Tout comme les multinationales extraient l'or des
territoires mexicains en ne laissant aux communautés que pollution et
pauvreté, la FIFA extrait des ressources publiques, des biens communs
et des profits colossaux avec la complicité du gouvernement. Le
Parlement, où Morena, le parti de la «Présidente» - comme elle aime se
faire appeler - Claudia Sheinbaum, détient la majorité absolue a en
effet approuvé des lois spéciales qui exonèrent la FIFA du paiement des
impôts sur les milliards de bénéfices générés par le tournoi,
détournant ainsi des ressources qui pourraient être destinées à la
santé ou à l'éducation.
Dévastation environnementale
En premier lieu, la Coupe du monde exacerbe les tensions déjà
existantes entre développement urbain et préservation de
l'environnement, mettant à rude épreuve des ressources en eau et des
écosystèmes déjà durement éprouvés. Pour faire fonctionner un stade
comme l'Azteca, les autorités ont du priver d'eau plusieurs quartiers

Gentrification
La flambée spéculative des locations visant à favoriser le tourisme de
luxe et les plateformes telles qu'Airbnb a exacerbé la gentrification.
La tendance est à «nettoyer» la zone des résidents sans moyens
financiers afin de mieux vendre la Coupe du monde sur le territoire.
Outre le manque d'eau, les habitants de Santa Ursula en lutte subissent
la hausse des loyers. Ces jours-ci, comme la zone est fermée non
