(en) France, UCL AL #370 - UCL News - March 8: Feminists, in solidarity, and always antifascist! (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Wed, 20 May 2026 07:06:59 +0300

International Women's and Gender Minority Day took place this Sunday, March 8, throughout France and internationally. Many people took to the streets given the current context, particularly in countries at war and countries where the far right has managed to gain power, such as the United States, Italy, and elsewhere, where there has been a clear erosion of these rights and a steady increase in gender-based and sexual violence.
We must not back down in the face of the far right and patriarchy. We must continue to mobilize massively to preserve our rights and win new ones, because in times of crisis, capitalism will not hesitate to sacrifice the rights of minorities, whether gender-based, racialized, or otherwise.

This year in France, the context was unique, particularly in Lyon, but resistance is organizing everywhere: Némésis opted for an empty rally rather than infiltrating the demonstration in Paris, and security kept the Nous Vivrons collective away. We will not allow the far right, which calls itself feminist, to take our place in the streets to promote racist and Islamophobic slogans. The struggle continues!
