political police force ICE, GardaWorld continues to rake in millions by 
accumulating contracts awarded by the latter. Indeed, GardaWorld has 
become a pillar of repression at Alligator Alcatraz by providing, among 
other things, armed security guards, supervisors, and armored trucks.

It is unacceptable that Quebec public funds are financing a company 
actively participating in the torture and incarceration of migrants. The 
Alligator Alcatraz center is now the symbol of this downward spiral, 
with Amnesty International reports and damning testimonies detailing 
degrading treatment. While GardaWorld already held an $8 million 
contract in July 2025, it is now bidding on ICE tenders worth up to $190 
million. This direct collaboration with the Trump administration 
demonstrates how a local multinational corporation profits from 
repression and human misery.

Fortunately, resistance is flourishing.

In Minneapolis, Minnesota, where ICE agents shot and killed Renée Good 
and Alex Pretti, a wave of anger swept through the city, giving rise to 
an unprecedented community mobilization. Volunteer networks monitored 
and reported the agents' every move. To this end, checkpoints were 
erected at strategic points in neighborhoods with high concentrations of 
immigrants, and whistles were used to signal the arrival of ICE agents. 
Meanwhile, hotels housing these agents were flooded with fake 
reservations and faced daily noisy protests.

The community also organized to support those bearing the brunt of ICE 
violence. Businesses temporarily closed their doors to become food 
distribution centers, while volunteers delivered essential supplies to 
immigrants who no longer dared to leave their homes. Numerous 
fundraising campaigns have sprung up to support families devastated by 
arbitrary arrests. Everywhere, posters call on citizens to protect their 
neighbors. It is this surge of solidarity that we are carrying on today: 
defending our neighbors in struggle across the United States. Let's not 
wait for fascist violence to take root here before drawing inspiration 
from the resistance in Minneapolis.

GardaWorld is just waiting for the contract; they'll get plenty of practice.
