[Original article on tacker.fr]More than 12 years ago, the Kurdish
population in northern Syria embarked on the path to implementing a
democratic model of society with the so-called Rojava Revolution. Over
the years, they built a democratic council system based on the
principles of Democratic Confederalism. Within this system, society now
organizes itself at all levels. The people of the region, from their
diverse social, cultural, and religious groups, created a common force
and together founded the present-day Democratic Self-Administration of
North and East Syria. From the very beginning, women have played a
pioneering role in the overall societal reconstruction. The liberation
of women was placed at the center of the struggle for a free life, a
free society, and peaceful coexistence. Thus, the women established an
autonomous women's system as part of the self-administration, and the
Rojava Revolution became known as the Women's Revolution.
The achievements of this revolution will be on display in Freiburg in
the exhibition "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" starting February 24th at the
Democratic Kurdish Association, Kehler Str. 29, 79108 Freiburg.
Since armed groups of the Syrian Transitional Federal Government and
allied militias invaded areas of the Democratic Self-Administration of
North and East Syria, the humanitarian situation in the region has
deteriorated drastically. Kurds and those who do not cooperate with the
jihadists are being targeted in a particularly brutal manner. Human
rights violations and targeted violence against women-femicides-are
being carried out by IS forces, HTS, and Turkish militias.
The city of Kobani has been besieged, and its electricity and water
supplies have been cut off.
...]The German Federal Government has pledged EUR620 million to the
jihadist Jolani, thereby financing jihadist forces that have supported
the escape of IS fighters from prisons! Germany must not allow any
political normalization or cooperation with Islamist actors!
No money for Jolani and the Syrian Transitional Federal Government!
The Democratic Self-Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) must
be politically recognized!
The women's revolution in Rojava represents all of us who desire a
self-determined, democratic, and liberated life for women!
Jin, Jiyan, Azadi!
