The situation is increasingly unbearable at La Poste, for both employees 
and users. Strikes have been on the rise for the past six months... and 
so has repression. More than 1.2 million letters are late in their 
delivery in France. This figure, revealed by the SUD PTT union on 
January 22, is a shock. This is especially true given that nearly 20,000 
jobs in La Poste's mail department have been cut in four years, despite 
record profits (EUR1.41 billion in 2024). Employers are even 
accelerating the closure of the yellow mailboxes that collect letters.

As the 13th SUD PTT congress takes place (May 12-16), the struggles are 
in the spotlight. Dozens of local strikes have recently taken place 
against "reorganizations" renamed "major projects and adaptations." 
Under the name of "innovations," these are actually a reduction in 
services. Examples include "single-delivery," meaning mail is delivered 
only every other day, or "mixed rounds," meaning the delivery of mail 
and parcels according to the instructions of artificial intelligence 
being tested in Aurillac (15) and Doué-La-Fontaine (49).

In Orléans (45), "La Poste has shifted gears regarding service 
reorganizations," states SUD PTT. The sorting center is becoming both a 
mail and parcel distribution center and a logistics center. Mail sorting 
is now done in Wissous (91), more than 100 km away, without the workload 
being sustainable. Hence, several strikes over the past two years, the 
last of which began on May 14. A year earlier, 22,000 letters were 
undeliverable in Orléans, and since then, the workload has continued to 
increase.

The only response from La Poste management has been to issue multiple 
disciplinary hearings against D. Sempé, the secretary of SUD PTT in 
Loiret, notably for "unauthorized speaking." A common accusation, but 
legally meaningless.

This same accusation was used against five SUD members from 
Hauts-de-Seine. The most notorious of them is Gaël Quirrante, dismissed 
in March 2018 for "kidnapping" executives during a strike in... 2010! 
This dismissal, contrary to the conclusions of the counter-investigation 
conducted by the Regional Directorate for the Economy, Employment, 
Labor, and Solidarity (DIRECCTE), was nevertheless rejected by the labor 
inspectorate. This didn't stop X. Bertrand and then M. Pénicaud, then 
Ministers of Labor, from contradicting their departments and validating 
the dismissal.

The 16-month strike to obtain the reinstatement of the man who remains 
the departmental secretary of SUD Poste 92 resulted in an agreement on 
the reorganizations only. Indeed, La Poste management prefers, as 
always, to exhaust legal avenues... and lose, as in the case of Y. Le 
Merrer, reinstated in May 2017.

In the Gaël Quirante case, La Poste risks a conviction in the European 
Court of Human Rights. But that's not stopping the bosses: since the 
summer of 2021 and the implementation of the CSEs, two-thirds of the 100 
disciplinary proceedings in the 92 department have targeted SUD 
activists and supporters. Taking advantage of the implementation of the 
CSEs, La Poste bosses are eradicating all forms of negotiation with the 
unions. Let's mobilize, as we did during the trial of the SUD PTT 92
