(en) Brazil, UNIPA: The Bolsonarist coup adventure and the reinforcement of the State! (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Fri, 20 Jan 2023 09:59:15 +0200

Today Brazil went through a coup adventure. Articulated by the social base of Bolsonaro/PL, who fled to the US before the end of his term. The action, coordinated by groups that had already been occupying barracks doors since Bolsonaro lost the bourgeois elections, had already been publicized for a few days. We can observe the ease with which Bolsonaristas entered the headquarters of the three powers of the Republic. In many videos, we see police officers leading Bolsonaristas to the esplanade and facilitating their actions. ---- Quite different from popular demonstrations, which even with immense popular force, as on June 17, 2013 in Brasília, where even with 40 thousand people in the streets, the insurgents of the popular uprising, were unable to enter the buildings and were shocked by the violence of the police. Thus, it is important to dissociate the right-wing conservative violence since 2016 from the anti-systemic popular insurgency of the June 2013 uprising.

From the US, Bolsonaro and his former minister and security secretary for the DF, Anderson Torres/União Brasil, watched the action of their social base, inflated by their violent and anti-popular narrative.

In the field of the left, from renewed to degenerate[i]reformism, the proposal is, to a greater or lesser extent, the defense of the repressive State, abstracting from the various forms of formation of this Bolsonarism, where these indeed need to be fought.

The "terrorist" narrative on the part of the reformist left is dangerous and tends to attack anyone who questions the prevailing order, left and right. Thus, it is a narrative that today attacks the right, but will soon turn against the people in struggle.

We identified some possible scenarios: 1) strengthening the repression of any combative manifestation. We include there the app couriers strike, scheduled for the 25/01th, and which has already been attacked by lulists and petistas; 2) maintenance of extreme right mobilizations. Repression, if it does not disrupt the organization, can give greater internal unity and lead part of the militancy to greater radicalization; 3) with the flight of charismatic leadership, a leadership vacuum opens up on the extreme right, which can be filled by new regional leaders, who have not yet managed to build themselves up as national leadership; 4) the possibility of this right being able to build a centralized party, which can give unity and command to this violent base.

The tasks for the people remain the same as those indicated by us. As we stated in Communiqué 79:

1) to resume and strengthen the basic instances of struggle and organization of the working class, such as assemblies, meetings, agitation, propaganda, protests, strikes and solidarity networks with a view to building the FOB and the people's congress;

2) combat proto-fascism in the most diffuse and disorganized sectors of the people and the Lulist ideology in the popular-union movement: such combats must combine struggles for immediate concrete claims and the ideological struggle in defense of class independence, the general strike and the boycott electoral. Lulism and Bolsonarism are two historical forms of denial of the autonomous political capacity of the working class, therefore, the principle of class independence without a clearly defined ideological struggle against these two trends is nothing more than hollow phraseology, and this ideological struggle will produce more effect within real claiming movements;

3) construction and strengthening of new tools of struggle for the proletariat and the peoples (under the strategy of revolutionary syndicalism), such as autonomous movements and unions, combative oppositions, mutual support groups, popular assemblies, cooperatives, etc.;

4) the development of a revolutionary mass line that articulates the task of opposition to bureaucracies and autonomous organization of the masses, that is, that has tactical flexibility to dispute the course of struggles as Opposition and as Independent Movements
