Paul,

Thank you for putting my message out. 

Today, I had another incident  happen. I had a physical run in with a
member of the klan (I am most  positive, not skinhead, nor nazi, this
was KKK). 

My son, who was shot on  Saturday, had a run in with one of the
shooters friends, who also has  been taunting my son. Stole his game
boy, called him racial names, and  more. Today he threatened to kill
him. 

So, since I am having little or  no support from the police, I decided
not to call, since I know they  would do nothing. 

I tried to calmly talk to his father who owns the  tatoo parlor down
the street from my house. I am so angry right now, I  don't have the
energy to go into all of it. I am having chest pains  thinking about
this shit. I took my 16 year old son, and my dog with me.  Are you
interested in hearing more? I came home in tears, and don't know  what
to do anymore. We have moved three times because of this, and I  think
we are going to move back to Cali in December. 

Anyway, I haven't  talked to Allen yet about this. I respect Angel and
Him a lot, they have  been a great support to me. I am afraid that what
I have to say is not  so passive this time, and to get the message
across, I can not sugar  coat anything, it was a horrible scene, I was
threatened, my son left to  get help after he verbally bashed him to
the ground, after threatening  bodily harm to him, I was afraid for my
life, and the graphic nature of  this confrontation, I am afraid, may
be a little much for the Haven. I  am going to ask him if he wants it
also though. I am really tired, I am  sick of looking out my window for
these fools to come shoot up my house,  and they completely and openly
violated me, my son, my younger son, even  my dog. He was high as a
kite, and very abusive. I am going to read your  links you sent over.

But I wanted to touch base with you tonight, while  it was still fresh
in my mind. I have been in many dangerous situations  before, have been
left for dead, but have never been confronted so  brutally this way
before. I was calm, wanted him to know what his son  did, and he just
went off. There is a lot more to this than that, but I  am still in
shock. 

I didn't call the police, wondering if I should, but  don't want them
going to the tatoo parlor, I don't need the entire group  of racist
pigs fucking with me. 

And you know the police, or maybe not,  but here, I live in Klan
territory, I live among all of them, KKK,  skinheads, Nazi's, I won't
make it here too much longer. Everywhere I  go, I see men with double
lightning bolts, and arian nation tats, white  pride, all that shit. I
have always been angry, have stood on that, and  I fight, and fight,
and fight, I am feeling really helpless right now  though. My family is
hurting, my son was shot, my oldest boy and I could  have been killed,
my daughter gets it too....

I think that a call for  action in a civil, peaceful way is a good
thing, but I am at the point  now, where I am feeling far from
peaceful, and I am going on and on, so  I will stop for now. If you
want to know what went down, let me know. I  will be writing the full
story tomorrow. I am thinking about combining  many of the things we
have endured, and putting them together. People  think that isolated
incidents are less important, but this is wrong. I  also think that
people tend to look the other way, and hush it all under  the carpet
when it does not directly affect their lives. I am at a  complete loss
as to what to do now, but I know I have to do something.  Anyway,
thanks again for printing my story, and let me know if you want  to
know the rest.....

                          RESPONSE TO R. BLUE

Dear RB,

Let me again, sadly, express condolences over what you and your family
are going through.

Let me give you a few of my thoughts on the matters you raised. I don't
want to become one of the people who think they can easily solve
everyone else's problems; all I can do is write to you how I would be
inclined to tackle them under my individual conditions. These are
obviously different than those you are in, so my comments may of
limited help. But I hope you might find one or two of them of interest
in assisting you in your future actions.

First, I think that you did exactly the right thing in informing me,
the Steadham's at "Interrace Haven," and others of what happened to
you. David Goldman, the director of HateWatch is looking for stories
such as yours. You might want to write him. Information on this is in
this issue of the journal.

My sense is that fascist and other hate-oriented actions are performed
by people who want little publicity. Everything from the K.K.K. hoods
to the Nazi "Nacht und Nebel" ("Night and Fog") policy demonstrates
this. My own experience on the net also confirms it. When I first
appeared on the net as an anti-fascist activist I got my usual quota of
hate mail; when I first became better known I was mailbombed three or
four times; all of this stopped when the fascists discovered that I
wasn't going away and was standing up to them.

Another benefit from your publicity is, I think, a sense that you are
not geographically isolated. Your story is going out to anti-fascists
all over the world. Perhaps you might consider contacting anti-fascist
or pro-tolerance organizations in your city. They probably pack
considerable more power with the police than you do as a single
individual. It also informs the Klan-types there that you are not
alone, and that they rather than you are the ones likely to suffer from
their continued "activism."

My personal inclination is also to file complaints with the police. You
point out that the cops aren't likely to do anything. I agree with you
here. But I think that creating a written trail of complaints can also
serve another purpose -- to proactively prepare for future events. The
future is uncertain but we must prepare today for future actions
despite our uncertainty. Building up a series of police reports is one
way we can do that.

As I wrote above, these ideas represent the way that I would be
inclined to handle the problem. I know that your situation is different
but I hope you may find them helpful.
