        TWO WAYS you can speak out against force in psychiatry

 There are two ways in this DENDRITE alert that you can speak out
 on the Internet against the use of forced psychiatric procedures.
 
 1. SPECIAL WEB SITE COLLECTS "FORCED PSYCHIATRY" STORIES
 
 Vicki Fox Wieselthier, who is doing a bang-up job organizing the May
 2 counterprotest in Washington DC, has come up with a great way to
 collect information that can be used to spread the message of NO
 FORCE and to BREAK THE SILENCE.
 
 Go to http://www.madnation.org/interactive and click through to the
 FORCE and RECOVERY data collection forms that Vicki has posted on the
 site. Fill out the forms, and click the submit button. If your
 browser does not support mailed forms, send Email to Vicki that
 contains the same kind of information she asks for on the survey
 forms -- personal stories about FORCE and RECOVERY. Remember to give
 her permission to use the material in printed material, press
 announcements, and on the web. You can also print out the forms and
 mail them to her at 4386 West Pine Blvd, One East, St.  Louis, MO

 2. RESPOND TO _NY TIMES_ ARTICLE PRAISING PSYCHIATRIST E. FULLER
 TORREY -- E-MAIL TO THE EDITOR TODAY!
 
 One of the most extremist leaders of the push for more forced
 psychiatric procedures is the psychiatrist E. Fuller Torrey. This
 past Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, the _New York Times Magazine_ printed a
 public relations "puff piece" praising Torrey.
 
 The article neglected to mention one of Torrey's main opponents:
 Namely, organized groups led by *survivors* of the forced psychiatric
 procedures that Torrey is pushing throughout the USA.
 
 You are encouraged to e-mail to the editor.
 
 What to say? Complain about the pro-Torrey article. Demand that
 psychiatric survivor opposition to forced psychiatry be covered.
 
 You can e-mail a letter to the editor of the _NY Times Magazine_:
