Take a good look! This is EXACTLY the way the US invaded Hawai'i.

I fIraq is such a threat to Israel I think we should believe that those
guys
can take care of themselves, and they won't beat the drums and fake a
phoney
threat before attacking.

Once again we see a US "president" using the lives of young ameican
boys and
girls to get his public image restored.....clinton is a lying,
backstabbing,
double dealing politician who does not have any honor in him.

I spent last night with a retired Colonel of Marines (helo pilot and
instructor) who served in Vietnam in several tours from 1964 to
73...men like
that are made of rewal substance and character. After talking about all
the
Vets we each knew who have had Cancer that we feel is related to AGENT
ORANGE
EXPOSURE he looked right at me and said," You know we never should have
been
there, don't you?" To me that is earth shaking....

This is the same old worn out script. Remember the "great threat" in
Granada?
Haiti? Dominican Republic? Panama? Faulklins?Nicaragua? Waco? Ruby
Ridge? and
now we bring you live and direct...Iraq 2!!!

I know a air force nam vet, we played music Sunday. He has one leg
amputated,
half the other gone...Colon Cancer and other strange symptoms..he was
mixing
and loading Agent Orange over there and now he is paying and paying...

We will have our little "tv war" you will be shown all the wonderful
explosions and bodies laying on the sand....how "noble" as we the new
world
order ("master race") again show everyone how morally bankrupt, how
brutal,
and how willing "we" are to KILL KILL KILL!!! so we can drive those 4
wheel
drive "auto tanks" and waste more and more gas to prove how "big and
bad" we
are....

DOES ANYONE WONDER WHY I WANT TO BECOME A HAWAIIAN CITIZEN NOW?

I can find NO RECORD of Hawai'i launching this type of war on ANYONE!!

SOS SOS SOS......
THE USS TITANIC IS LEAVIING PORT FOR PERSIAN GULF
hus majesty Clinton the 3rd in command!!

Aloha to all KanakaMaoliallies!!

NO WAR !! NO WAR!! NO MORE VIETNAMS!!!!

  Bill Clinton wants a war.

Bill Clinton needs this war. Not for you. Not for me. Not for the
nation. But for himself. He needs the public to be distracted from
tornados that dig up proof of obstruction of justice. He needs the
public
to be distracted from volume two of the Starr Report. He needs the
public
to be distracted from a stuttering Dow. He needs the public to be
distracted from 100+ witnesses who saw a missile rise up and strike TWA
800 from the sky, and a government cover up so hokey that the laughter
is
being heard from coast to coast. Bill needs the public to be distracted
form the drug money that touched his 1992 campaign and Bill needs the
public to be distracted from the four now-dead fundraisers who handled
that cash. He needs the public to be distracted from the recent
elections,
which proved that the Democrats cannot retake congress (legally) in 1998
and vote away all his troubles.

Bill Clinton thinks a war will do it. He knows that in the past,
American citizens have always stood behind a President in time of war.
That's why, even as the ONI tried to keep the truth about flight 800
from
the voters, Bill; was launching cruise missiles at Southern Iraq over
events that took place in the north of that country. All part of the
1996
campaign to re-elect the President. All part of the preening.

  Bill needs a war.

So, Bill is going to start one.

In the last few weeks, we've seen the media and the internet flooded
with stories assuring us that Iraq has stockpiles of biological weapons.
We are being asked to accept, by the very same people who were just
caught
lying about TWA 800, by the very same people who pretend there was no
second volume to the Kenneth Starr report on Vincent Foster, on faith,
that Saddam has these weapons even though years of random inspections,
TV
cameras, and audits have failed to find any.

Think about it. If our intelligence agencies really did have proof
that
Saddam had bioweapons, don't you think they would have told the UN
inspection teams where to look? Have the UN teams found anything? No.

The media would have us all believe that the Iraquis are on the one
hand
smart enough to outwit the UN inspection teams for years on end, yet
dumb
enough to hide the bioweapons inside the palaces and then stand in front
like a child hiding a stolen cookie and say, "You may not go in there."
If
Saddam has those weapons, they will not be hidden in such an obvious
spot.

The rumors of the bioweapons, just like the story (manufactured by PR
firm Hill & Knowlton) of the Kuwait incubators, is a lie designed to
sell
us a war with Iraq*. Terak Aziz hit it right on the head. When America
needs a crisis, they bomb Baghdad.

  Bill needs a crisis.

Bill needs a crisis to save his own skin. The press, more used to
covering Clinton's ass than covering Clinton needs a crisis, so they
have
an excuse not to look at second volumes of reports, dead fundraisers,
dead
Deputy Councils, dead 747s, and incriminating checks unearthed by
tornados
(proof that even God wants Bill out of the White House).

Bill wants a war so bad he can taste it. And he doesn't care how many
people have to die for it. He loathes the military; he's said so
himself,
in writing. Let them die. "Who cares?" Nobody knows where they'll be
buried, of course,; your average GI can't afford the current price tag
for
an honorable used-to-be military funeral.

  Bill wants a war.

And one way or the other, he's going to manufacture one.

And just think about this. If Saddam doesn't have those weapons, then
a
war by the United States against Iraq is an unconscionable act of
aggression.

If Saddam does have those weapons and we are not (as has been the case
for years now) able to locate them, we invite a terrible retaliation
that
only a lunatic (or a President desperate to declare martial law) would
chance.

As an American Indian I ask,... what else is new??? Our people have
been the subject of "righteous wars" by the U.S. for generations.
(and before them by the various colonial nations)

Looking at the practical reasons for a war, I see this. Beyond the
public opinion reasons for war which while valid are only short term
rationalizations, the U.S. uses a war or substantial military
conflict every 10-20 years to keep the military forces in a
sense of training readiness. Is this a planned thing? I would hope
not, as I don't think that there is that much coordination in DC, but
it is strange how it seems to fit. It serves to train new Generals,
test weapons and tactics systems, boost industrial production of
weapons, build patriotism and a sense of nationalism, and reduce
in fighting among internal interest groups. Regular war along with
welfare appear to work as the means by which a stable society has
been maintained.

I realize that this may sound strange but look at history.

1609-1780 - Indian wars
1780 - revolutionary war
1812 - War of 1812
1830s - forced removal of Indians
1840s - Mexican War
1860s - Civil War
1870s - more Indian Wars
1880s - Even More Indian Wars
1890 - Wounded Knee Massacre (end of the Indian Wars)
1898 - Spanish-American War
1917 - WWI
1921 - U.S. Forces participate with British in attempt to reinstate
the Russian Monarchy (short not well known expedition)
1941 - WWII
1950 - Korean War
1963-75 - Vietnam War
1980s - Granada, Panama, Contras
1990 - Gulf War
1998 - ?

I wouldn't say that this is an idea fully thought through, but it has
forced me to stop and think

take care

Interesting reference to a book available on the internet:

Hidden Casualties

The Human, Environmental and Political Consequences of the Persian Gulf
War

Edited by Saul Bloom, John M Miller & Philippa Winkler

'This ARC study on the consequences of the Gulf War should be of great
interest to all those who are rightly concerned about the Gulf conflict
and
its impact on the people of the region, and about military measures as a
policy option anywhere.' Noam Chomsky

Hidden Casualties presents a comprehensive assessment of the long-term
environmental and health effects, and of the political consequences of
the
1991 Persian Gulf War, both on the Gulf region and the rest of the
world. It sheds new light on Western policy towards Iraq prior to the
war, on the real
reasons for intervention, and on the cover-ups of the actual
consequences.
Containing in-depth interviews and analyses from leading atmospheric
scientists, biologists, physicians, demographers and lawyers with access
to
the most reliable and up-to-date information, Hidden Casualties reveals
both the full extent of the effects and how many of the consequences
have been
deliberately played down or covered up in official accounts. The book
exposes:

The US Government's secret environmental impact statement on the
war, which predicted oil spills 70 times larger than Exxon Valdez
Uranium left behind in the desert and the resultant effects of low
level radiation on animals and humans
The direct impacts of the war on Iraqi, Kuwaiti and Palestinian
children and women
The gag placed on scientists investigating the link between the
effects of oil fires and the 1991 Indian monsoons and the floods in
China
How the West armed Iraq beforehand

ARC is a public interest organisation of scientists, economists,
planners and activists, based in San Francisco, California. For ten
years, ARC has
been investigating the effects of military activity on the environment,
the economy and society.

Interesting, no? I'd be interested in seeing some actual figures of the
number of civilian men, women and children, and the brainwashed military
on both sides who died... in the attack on Saddam. Yet he lives on.
Sounds like another war that the U.S. has no business in being in the
territory, similar to so many before.

Bill Clinton, repeat after me: I'm sorry, I cannot and will not wipe
from the face of this earth all the innocent men, women and children who
would suffer because I'm in this too deep to back out without losing
'face'. I will not see homes both in the U.S. and abroad where all
parents and families of these killed have left are pictures of their
loved ones, because I gag on the words, "I'm sorry, I made a mistake".

Rather reminds me of the saying, "What if there was a war, and no one
came?"

I think that anyone out there who served in the Armed Forces of the
U.S., if they're honest, will admit that all who enter are indoctrinated
(read brain washed) into believing that they are always the good guys
who wear white, and the other side is *always* the bad guys in black.
This is part of military basic training, my friends. This is why NOW is
the time for Hawai'i to regain her independence. This is why we MUST
not have another Pearl Harbor. As long as the super-computer is on
Maui, one of the prime targets for anyone wishing to hit back at the
U.S. is here on our beloved islands. As long as there are the number of
Naval ships and Marines based here in Hawai'i, WE are a target.

<takes her sanity pill for the day, mailing a huge parcel of them to the
government and military of the U.S.>

Note: One of the individuals involved in the story told there is still
in the Pentagon.

Michael Ng... (smiles softly). You sound like you're still an innocent
in many ways, dear friend. The United States is not and has not, for a
long, long time been involved in any war to stop communism, nor for any
other humane cause. As you did point out... it's all about money,
greed, fame, and simply aggression. The UN was told by Iraq that *they*
could send in investigators, but that U.S. investigators would not be
allowed. An attack on Iraq should rest in the hands of the UN *NOT* the
U.S.

God bless,

Very interesting theory. I agree that these ideas play some part in the
machine but I wonder? I was always schooled in the idea that the U.S.
(for Colonizers it was manifest destiny the set it all up) from the get
go was primarily interested in maintaining the western hemisphere as
free
from opposing threats. i.e. Communisism(Cuba) which really means
anti-captitalism as possible. These acts of aggression are the
precaution's and preventative measures the U.S. has taken to maintain
control of the western Hemi and capitalism. Now with the advent of
unmanned transcontinental guided missiles the threat is no longer about
the western hemisphere. Along with a truly global economy the U.S. must
maintain the entire world in order to protect its hold on economic
power
as opposed to territorial and tactical advantages in the west. Always
economic power, no longer are we threatened by invading army's in the
western hemisphere, we(U.S.) are threatened by economic overthrow as
well
as the missiles of so-called rough countries. I am not a supporter of
this ideology but I feel it is a better representation of what games
that
are really being played. I would also like to add, we know there are
hitler's out there so I feel the policing of the world is a good thing,
its just some of the underlining motives(Gas and Oil, United fruit,
Uranium) are often overlooked.

When the media garbage broke about Clinton and his zipper problems --
I started asking -- what is being covered up???? Not THAT -- but by
getting the media in the States to concentrate on SEX any kind of sex
and they stop THINKING -- and common sense goes out the window (remember
how everyone responded about the "same sex marriage issue"??? While the
kanaka maoli are being "screwed" by state and the freddies??
Also -- a side note about Freddies -- members of the Fed. club --
seems like some of the folks involved in "uncovering" the current
Clinton scandal are card carrying members of the Federalist club that
Francis Boyle has been keeping us informed about.....

Richard Rose reminds us about the military's need to "play war" --
there are a few more dates -- the "cold" war was for many military men
a "hot" war -- there were squarderons based in Hawaii who rotated to
bases in Japan & Alaska to make CIA sponsored flights over Russia,
North Korea and China -- so the military was able to test all their
toys and there was a war gap for the Korean war until the start of
of the Vietnam War.
Also -- The war against Native Americans is/was fought on a local
level -- The second Wounded Knee and the continual genocide against
Native Americans PLUS the continual attack of the Conservative in
Congress to eliminate the Native American "advantages" -- Sen. Slade
Gorton is the current leader of this attack. Native Americans have
always fared worse with a Republicans in power -- thus I'll vote for
a Clinton with a zipper problem any day.
[Shall we forget the Panama War -- where hundreds of civilians were
slaughtered in order to "bag" one Panamanian General?? This is an
ongoing cover-up. The civilians who who murdered by U.S. troops were
placed in garbage bags and thrown into mass graves.] Just another reason
to make many of us hang our heads in shame to be associated with this
"government".
Remember it was Clinton in 1993 who signed the "apology" legislation??
This would not have happened with Bush!

It has been several years since the military has been able to get
rid of their current huge stock pile of weapons -- they have been able
to
use a limited amount on Bosnia. And since the "Gulf war" games
significant
advances have been made in military technology. My guess is that the
computer simulated games that have been developed for the troops needs
to
be tested. Also the "virtual reality" computer mock-ups need to be
tested --
can highly trained troops keep a distance from the real gore of war??
The military has been buying into the high tech market for some
time. A huge
number of highly talented engineers and inventors are under contract to
the
military -- and vast sums are being spent on weapons research and
development. (There was an article on this in Scientific America
several
years ago --
predicating what would happen with so many engineers and inventors
co-opted for
military purposes -- rather than Research and Development for Civilian
purposes).
Recent news story -- A huge number of High Tech jobs are going begging
because there aren't enough people to fill them. Yet at the same time --
the military R&D is employing engineers etc.

Meanwhile the military industrial complex has been turning out all
manner
of weapons -- and they need another "war" to dump their weapons. The
stats
on the poundage of bombs etc. dropped during the last gulf war games is
staggering -- more than was dropped during WWII or sum such
incomprehensible
stat. Once the huge stock pile of weapons is dumped -- the military
industrial complex can get more money to make more weapons and develop
more
weapons, based on "field" testing of new weapons.
Also -- the military academies have been pumping out graduates -- and
promotion and rank are tied to "field" experience. How much "field"
experience are they getting as "peace" keepers in places like Bosnia??
The up and coming generation of academy officers need to be "battle"
tested.
In order to get troops into Vietnam -- the military lied to Kennedy,
Johnson and Nixon. Apparently only the guys who were on the front line
knew
the truth and they came home and told their family and friends -- that
the
war was unwinable -- Gen. Westmoreland -- Waste more land -- was
involved in
giving inflated numbers to portray the war as being won -- to the
politicians.
The military has its own University near Wash. D.C. -- and they
learned
from their mistakes in Vietnam -- that is how to control the media and
how
to control the images of the war. The Gulf war -- lots of videos of the
"clean" war of planes taking off for missions. All you need to do is
talk
to the lower ranks of the military -- to find out the real numbers of
missions flown -- vs. what the military PA.RE. guys told the media.
Every
flight off a carrier was called a "sortie" -- and some of these were
merely
officers being taken to "officer clubs" on the land.
So we have a population of the UP.SO.A. -- who has a fixation about
SEX --
and a sex scandal in the white house -- and a war build-up. Which
"story"
is getting the most coverage? How many people understand that the
military
will lie, cheat, murder and manipulate the news media in order to have
their
war games???
My guess is the majority of kanaka maoli allies list live in Hawaii??
Also since Hawaii is full of military bases -- you have undoubtedly seen
military lies first hand. Recent history -- the H3 freeway -- fastest
way
to get from one military base on the Lee ward side (Ewa side) to the
Windward side is H3. Past history -- theft of the Kingdom and
independent
Nation of Hawaii -- by the Missionary Boys club WITH direct help from
the
U.S. military. You also see the military training for war -- all over
the
islands.
One of the quickest ways to pull a group of people together is to
create a "them against us" situation. Nazism used the Jews -- and it
used to be the RED threat of Russia, China and North Korea. The CIA and
military spent a lot of money in their effort of misinformation telling
us how the big bad monsters were going to take over the United States --
and now that the iron/bamboo curtain have fallen we know that this was
a manufactured lie.
Living so close to the military -- people in Hawaii have learned that
the first statement from the military is a lie. If they do tell the
truth --
it is mixed in with a pack of lies so that we don't believe the truth.

Don't get caught up in the media mania over Clinton's zipper -- it is an
illusion. Remember to keep your eyes and common sense on what is
happening
in the background. A good cartoon to illustrate is the media hype over
the
"welfare" issue -- welfare moms have got to go to work (blah blah blah).
At the same time in the background we see sacks of money being tossed
from the Government banks into the waiting hands of corporate welfare.
Some of the alternative media has been busy reporting the censored
stories -- check these publications out on the internet or on the
magazine
racks of larger bookstores or news stands. "Covert Action" and "Extra"
are two publications.
My guess is that the military idustrial complex will get their new
war games -- stay tuned for news stories about the newest high tech
weapons.

Merrily tell me this. how long has the U.S. been imposing trade
embargo's
on Cuba? I'll tell you, since the communist took over down there. While
the Pope was in Cuba, Castro made the statement the the embargo are
unfair. The war isn't against communism it never was its about power
attained from wealth. That's why Russia is no longer the threat, they
are
still communist but they are broke communists'. So if the theory
follows
where people are saying countries wage war in order to make money, then
all Russia has to do is wage war? Come On! that's a bunch of bull. The
U.S. spend trillions in the first Iraq war. How does spending that kind
of money make money for the U.S. Sure military contracts make
contractors
money but who is footing the real bill. We are, the tax payers. that's
the price we pay for cheap gas at the pumps.(sarcism...for those who
cant
tell)

SO please I don't appreciate being referred to as "innocent in many
ways". If you read and understood my entire post I am not disagreeing
with what people are saying about the U.S., I am merrily pointing out
that the underlying motives for everything the U.S. and members of the
World Bank are doing are based on protecting their investments. I am
not
agreeing with those practices, but pointing them out. I am getting a
lot
email discussing a lot of conspiracy theory about why armies wage war,
when armies are actually secondary when it comes to who plans wars. The
hierarchy of today's society is based on economics the richest are in
control, the politicians are their puppets.

"Let me issue and control a Nation's money and I care not who makes the
Laws," Rothchild is reputed to have said. "The Rothchilds conquered the
world more thoroughly, more cunningly, and much more lastingly than all
the Ceasers before or all the Hitlers after them," writes Frederick
Morton in The Rothchilds - this was some info Bumby passed on to me im
not sure from where he got pulled it but it was refered to as "Historic
Events of Global Banking"

It doesn't matter who is president of the U.S. cause he doesn't control
the Money. So lets not point fingers at who is innocent. The only thing
people really need to understand is that those with the money make the
rules, and implement them. The war on Iraq is based on oil. The U.S.
and
Europe have built up these oil economies and along with them
governments.
Well now these governments have money and want as much power as the
U.S.
and Europe. That's the struggle, and if china wasn't a military super
power they would do the same thing to Them. Watch what happens in
China,
they are the U.S. and Europe's main adversaries, economically and
Militarily

Saddam is playing this scenario well and making Clinton look like a
bully. The fact is that it wasn't all U.N. inspectors who were kicked
out,
just those Americans who were spying on Iraq over and above the
requirements of the weapons inspections. In other words, Saddam wanted
the CIA out and who can blame him?

What biological weapons Saddam had (and he apparently bought them
from a
company in Florida) were destroyed after Desert Storm, along with Gerald
Bull's "supergun" and the rest of the SCUD missiles. He may retain lab
quantities of the materials, but I have a hard time accepting on face
value assurances from the media regarding the size of his arsenal. This
is, after all, the same media that assured us that Iraqi soldiers were
looting incubators from Kuwait hospitals and leaving the premature
babise
no the floor to die. That story, as you may recall, turned out to be a
total fiction, the invention of public relations firm Hill & KNowlton
which is paid tens of millions of your tax dollars every year to lie to
you; to talk you into agreeing to things that in hindsight usually turn
out not to have been what they appeared to be.

There's more to this Iraq thing than just Clinton's need for a
distraction. The longer that Iraq's oil is kept off of the market,
the greater the profits for American and British oil companies.
Following
the exposure of the story about Iraq's testing their chemical wespons on
prisoners as a fabrication by the Canadian press, the U.N. very quietly
lifted part of the oil embargo. The American oil companies, such as
Zapata oil (owned by George Bush) or Caribbean Continental (alleged to
be a CIA proprietary that operates the refinery at Batman, Turkey)
stand to see their prices and profits not to mention overall market
share
decline if Iraq's crude starts flowing again. Far better to start
a war, lock Iraq's oil off of the market and stick it to "just plain
folks" at the gas pumps for the next several years.

Before we get too high and mighty in our concerns about chemical and
biological weapons, remember that the United States is the leading
produces of such materials as anthrax (one of Clinton's enemies, police
investigator Larry Walsh, was attacked with military grade anthrax)
and ricin, a nearly untraceable toxin used in assasinations for which
USAMRIID openly admits developing an aerosol delivery system.

In the 1970s, declassified defense department documents revealed that
the United States military had conducted biological weapons tests
on our own population without their knowledge in at least 27 sets
of experiments, the most famous of which was the Tuskegee Syphillus
study.
Another lesser known test involved spraying the city of San Fransisco
with a weakened germ to see how many people would get sick. the germ was
not as weak as was thought and several people died!

I am as aware as anyone else that there is no real moral "high ground"
in the world. There is winning and there is losing. The strong take and
the weak surrender; that is the lesson of history.

But whereas there are times when war is required and sacrifice called
for, this is not such a time. This planned attack on Iraq has no real
targets (they still cannot find the biological weapons, if they exist),
doesn't change Saddam's ability to wage war (he doesn't have any
delivery
systems to go with the much ballyhooed germs).

This "war" is pure public relations, and given the lies used to sell
the
last ""Desert Stomp" to us all, it will take far more than the solomn
assurances of official spokesmen toto convince me this time. Show me the
proof beyond a reasonable doubt!

Frankly, given the involvement of government informants in both the
World Trade Towers bombing and the Oklahoma City bombing, I am feeling
far
more threatened by the anthrax stockpiled at DUgway Proving Grounds than
by any in Bahgdad!

Aloha Michael,

As the lone hegemony the U.S. has and will control the UN whenever
and wherever its "interests" are at stake. Since 1990 the U.S. and
Britain have maintained a tight grasp over the UN on this issue.

In terms of "weapons of mass destruction," this is one phrase that
Washington and the U.S. media have used as a most effective propaganda
ploy to sway American sentiment. But Iraq's "weapons of mass
destruction"
are merely toys when compared to the U.S. arsenal. This is hypocracy at
its best. In terms of arms, the U.S. today possesses the most des-
tructive force in the history of humankind, thousands of nuclear
weapons which it has used twice not to mention the fallout from
testing, with the U.S. military-industrial complex actually the
ones arming the world with these "weapons of mass destruction."
This is not a million or billion but a trillion dollar business.
The U.S. is no position to do any policing, since it is the
one doing the arming.

Saddam is a thug, but not any more than a George Bush or Henry
Kissenger. When will they go on trial for their CRIMES AGAINST
HUMANITY!?

Aloha mai e Michael,

You're more right than you probably realize. During the Vietnam War,
 I
served as a Torpedoman/ Launcher Tech aboard SSBN Submarines. I doubt
many
people realize this but they, like you, have much more to fear from
their
own government than from other countries. What I'm going to say to
you is
the reason I finally got a clue and got out of the service. We would
have
all sorts of drills almost daily to keep proficient - which is certainly
needed, but when we would have nuclear weapons drills, at times I'd be
down
in Missile Control Center and surprise, surprise, surprise .... guess
where
MANY of the targets are? If we ever end up in a nuclear war, the US is
targeting MANY of it's own cities. Believe it if you want or not ....
IT'S
A FACT. It has this "If we can't have it then you can't either"
mindset.
I decided that I didn't want to have any part of that scenario and got
out. If I'm to die, fine, but I'll do it fighting for what I believe
in
and not killing my own people. And you folks are right about the Gulf
War,
too. Notice that we didn't do anything until the oil was threatened?

The "Civil Defrence" Agency of the City of New Orleans had a meeting
one night
about 1978. A man named "chuck" came to the front to speak and he
started by
saying,"You are looking at the man who dropped the atomic bomb on the
US over
57 times".

He was actually bragging about the "Operation Broken Arrow" in which he
and
his mentally derranged pals had done open air testing in Nevada with
nuclear
weapons in the late 40's and 50's.

When I expressed concern and horror that radiation was allowed to drift
into
populated areas I was "comforted" by a medical doctor. He said , "Look!
All
you have to do is get a iodine injection and you won't be affected by
the
radiation".

Not to be outdone, his son added,"I told my wife to go to Sophie Newcomb
College , they wouldn't DARE bomb Newcomb" (a upscale, THE MOST ultra

heart
to tell them that the heat equal to that on the surface of the sun would
probably burn up the grass on the common...

I left for Kauai about 2 months later with the intention of never
coming back.
When I got to Hawai'i I soon discovered that there were more missles and
warheads there than anywhere else.....no where to go anymore!!

That is what we are up against...conventional "wisdom" born out of 50

Just yesterday I absolutely amazed several people by recountng the

Is keeping the price of oil over valued worth the life of one single

After Watergate I thought we had taken care of this sickness within

BOMB THE USUAL IRAQIS
by
Eric Margolis 9 Feb 1998

The objective of war, wrote the great military thinker Maj.
Gen. J.F.C. Fuller, is not victory, but to shape the peace
that follows.

Without clear, strategic objectives for a post-war period,
starting a conflict is merely mindless brutality. This,
alas, is precisely the direction in which the US is headed
over Iraq.

War fever and jingoism, fanned by an uncritical,
cheerleading media, grip the United States. Seventy-one
percent of Americans, most of whom could not find Iraq on a
map, want to see it pulverized anew.

Exactly 100 years ago, a similar nationalist frenzy
produced the lopsided Spanish-American War. Today, the cry
is: `Take Out Saddam!' Back then it was, `Remember the
Maine!'

President Bill Clinton, up to his neck in sleaze, may
unleash a new war on Iraq to distract the public from his
growing legal and moral problems. The man who dodged the
draft in wartime plans to use the US military to save his
political skin. No matter thousands of Iraqi civilians and
some American servicemen may die.

Republican leaders Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott are beating
the war drums. Though bright men, like many Republicans and
conservatives, they have no grasp of the Mideast's
serpentine complexities. They see the Mideast with comic strip
simplicity. These small-town politicians writ
large mistakenly believe the solution to America's imperial
problems in the Mideast is simply swinging the big stick.
The world could pay dearly for this dismaying combination of
international vigilantism, arrogance, and ignorance.

Consider: :

*The US bombs Iraq for days, killing large numbers of troops
and civilians. Saddam survives. What then? He will proclaim
another victory against the world's superpower. There will
be widespread revulsion towards the US. Under international
law, Iraq has the right to attack nations - like Kuwait and
Bahrain - if they allow US warplanes to launch attacks from
their soil. This week, Russia's Boris Yeltsin rightly
warned of unpredictable dangers arising from an American
attack.

*Iraq's remaining stores of chemical and biological
weapons(CB) cannot be totally eliminated. Claims they can be
expunged by bombing are nonsense. Iraq has no nuclear
program left. Its strategic weapons consist of limited
quantities of poison gas, V-series nerve agents, and
biological agents. But Iraq cannot deliver them at any
distance. These CB weapons are likely hidden in mountains,
deserts or swamps, not in Saddam's palaces. .

Hitting chemical sites could release toxic clouds, killing
thousands of civilians - as almost occured in Baghdad in
1991. Gulf War Syndrome that affects so many US servicemen
was most likely caused by the foolish demolition of Iraqi
chemical weapons stores by the US Army..

*Chemical/biological weapons are relatively easy to
manufacture. Unlike nuclear weapons, they require little
space and can be hidden in a small, non-nondescript
building. CB technology is a genii that's out of the
bottle.
Note: Iraq's CB technology was provided by Britain and the
US during the 1980's for use against Iran. The only way to
eliminate CB technology from Iraq is by killing 22,000
Iraqi military technicians and scientists.

*All major Mideast powers now have chemical and, some,
biological, weapons which, Arabs and Iran maintain, were
developed mainly to counter Israel's huge nuclear, chemical
and biological arsenal. If Saddam is overthrown, Iraq's
next ruler will immediately begin rebuilding his strategic
CB and, later, nuclear, weapons.

*Saddam is a dangerous brute. All previous Iraqi rulers
since the 1950's have also been thugs. It takes an iron hand
to rule chronically unstable Iraq. Unless Iraq, which has
the Mideast's second largest oil reserves, is to be
partitioned between Turkey and Iran, a Saddam act-alike will
be needed to run this mutant stepchild of British
imperialism. Iraq's next ruler will probably be as ruthless
as Saddam, but smarter.

*Virtually unnoticed by the world, the US has given Turkey a
green light to begin annexing northern Iraq, with its rich
oil fields. Under the pretext of fighting Kurds, the
Turkish Army is inching its way towards Mosul. The US
scourges Iraq for trying to annex Kuwait, while encouraging
Turkey to annex part of Iraq.

*Iraq is not the deadly menace American propaganda makes it
out to be. Without missiles, and only a handful of
aircraft, Iraq has little offensive capability. Once US-
imposed sanctions are lifted, however, Iraq will begin
rebuilding its forces, but this will take many years.

*US human intelligence(humint) in Iraq is awful. In 1996,
the Clinton Administration badly botched an attempt to
assassinate Saddam and overthrow his regime, including
terror bombings of civilian targets in Baghdad. CIA's Iraqi
network was broken and rolled up. Israel's Mossad has become
a major supplier of humint on Iraq, The data from Israel is
crafted to serve Israel's strategy of pressing the US into
another war with Iraq.

*If the US strikes, it will try to kill Saddam, using newly
developed BLU-109B/113 bombs that can penetrate 3 meters of
concrete. Assassinating foreign leaders is against US law.
The law, however, is suspended when dealing with the
Mideast.

*An attack on Iraq will not be a UN operation. The core
majority of the Security Council - Russia, France and
China- strongly oppose attacking Iraq. So the US, with
Britain tagging along, will unilaterally go to war with
Iraq. Stripped of the UN fig leaf, we see the realpolitik: :
US determination to crush Iraq for daring challenge its Oil
Raj in the Mideast.. .

*The lightweight US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright,
insists diplomacy has been exhausted. But contrast
Clinton's policy towards North Korea, which, unlike
demolished Iraq, is a real international threat.

North Korea has nuclear weapons, gas, and germs. It
threatens to use them against South Korea, Okinawa, Japan
and 37,000 US troops in Korea. Washington is buying off
hungry North Korea by giving it a two nuclear reactors,
oil, food and medicine. Why not buy hungry Iraq's good
behavior? After all, a mere eight years ago, wicked Saddam
used to be a close US ally. .

The US has painted itself into a corner by demonizing Iraq
and wildly exaggerating the threat from Baghdad. Saddam
keeps making the US look foolish. After all his threats, if
Clinton backs down over Iraq, Republicans will crucify him.
America's allies and Russia are frantically trying to
fashion a face-saving diplomatic exit from this mess that
will allow Washington to proclaim victory.

Diplomacy is clearly the way out. But the US has made clear
it will keep Iraq in prison, and torment its people, until
they overthrow Saddam, Iraqis must be able to see an end to
crushing sanctions and a return to normal relations. A
nation cannot be kept in permanent solitary confinement.
Saddam is not a lunatic; he can be encouraged to acceptable
behavior. The world would be better without Saddam and his
like, but we may have to live with him. And a lasting
Mideast peace won't come until Israel allows a viable
Palestinian mini-state, and joins some kind of regional CB
arms control program.

This crisis will probably hasten the end of Iraq's 7-year
isolation. US policy towards Iraq has been a total fiasco.
Ironically, Great Brinksman Saddam may yet emerge the
victor in his long test of wills with Washington.

America, the world's sole superpower, is about to savage a
small, defenseless nation of 22 million. Such Saddam-like
behavior is unworthy of both a great, humane democracy, and
the proud US armed forces.

This is certainly not America's finest hour.

Subject:	RE: US versus Iraq

The following statement very clearly sums up the connection between the
Hawaiian Independence movement and the Iraq/U.S. situation:

"Contrast Clinton's policy towards North Korea, which, unlike
demolished
Iraq, is a real international threat."

"North Korea has nuclear weapons, gas, and germs. It threatens to use
them
against South Korea, Okinawa, Japan and 37,000 US troops in Korea.
Washington is buying off hungry North Korea by giving it two nuclear
reactors, oil, food and medicine."

Hawaii sits directly between the U.S. and North Korea. Within Hawaii we
have many U.S. military installations and a large Naval Base. We have
(on Maui) a super computer which is part of the 'eyes' of the U.S.
government and military. We have recently seen and continue to see,
military buildup here on the islands, including more efficient means of
transporting troops from Marine bases to Naval Ships for
transportation. The U.S. itself has used one of our beloved islands for
target practice. As long as this continues, as long as Hawaii is
considered to be part of the U.S., we are a prime target for anyone in
the world wishing to hit back at the U.S. *THIS* is why it is of
supreme importance that we gain our independence from the U.S. now!
Quite simply put, Japan would not have struck at Pearl Harbor had the
U.S. fleet not been there. After all, there are also many residents
here in the islands with families in Japan.

For the survival of Hawaii, for the love our our 'aina, we must become
Independent and Neutral. We must acknowledge that we are a homogenous
peoples from both sides, and there will always be lingering allegiance
to one's land where they still have family they love. We must *all* get
behind the movement of the Kanaka Maoli to see this happen. We must
look at the history of the treatment of other peoples, by the Kanaka
Maoli, and trust that they will indeed, treat us (even with the
outrageous acts perpetrated upon them by many haoles) as their brothers
and sisters in the future Independent Nation of Hawaii. Now is the best
chance we have had to make this happen for the last 100 years. Now,
while Hawaii can no longer be considered an 'asset' to the U.S. We must
convince them we have no more to give... that they will not gain more
power nor wealth from us. Perhaps even to the point of convincing them
that we, because of their management of us, will bleed them for our very
existence. Point out to them the numbers here who are already on
welfare, that our economy is failing (even though we know it could be
easily rebuilt, working together), claim every possible benefit you can
from the U.S. - make them feel it.

Tourism is NOT the way to go to help our economy! The jobs brought by
tourism are menial tasks, at the very best. Self sufficiency IS the way
for us to be truly FREE. This means that those huge land holders within
the islands (they *are* a minority, my friends), must be taxed by a
'land tax'. It is not to the average resident's advantage to have
higher excise tax, the income tax hits the middle to lower income
brackets hardest (the wealthy have the means to dodge paying higher
taxes), that includes both State and U.S. income tax. The cost of
housing is controlled by the wealthy large land holders - we must stop
that by taxing them for holding those lands which could be used for
housing and growing our own food.

Governor Cayatano stated that Hawaiians are agricultural workers,
therefore put them on farms. I would agree IF he were to say, put them
on their OWN farms, not working to make someone else wealthier. I see
the Hawaiians as being excellent agricultural workers because they love
the 'aina and understand it, NOT because they are incapable of learning
other trades. Developers I place in the same category with the huge
land holders - they come in, get rich by exploiting the people here,
then take their marbles and go home. The jobs they generate here are
also menial and hard labor jobs with low pay. If we have Kanaka Maoli
with construction knowledge, let us hire *them* to build homes and
businesses! We need a government that removes the red tape to allow
additions to be built onto existing homes without waiting as much as 4
years for a permit!

Within the islands I see many extremely talented people who produce
products and goods that can not be found anywhere else in the world - in
part because those who did have those talents have lost them by having
to work for 'the man', leaving them too tired to teach future
generations the skills and talents that they once had. I can see a
bright future for Hawaii by doing what comes naturally to them... and by
marketing these same things to the rest of the world, via the internet.

One thing we must all remember is to "buy local goods". Yes, sometimes
it costs a bit more, but it keeps our neighbors in business. If they
prosper, we prosper with them.

A hui hou,
Merrily

Subject:	Manufacturing Consent

Aloha KMA,

The recent crisis of Iraq raises interesting questions which certainly
have
relevance to Hawaii and the struggle for sovereignty. Once comment was
why
couldn't the United States leave this situation to the United Nations.
It
must be remembered that the United Nations is not some monolithic
entity,
rather it is the sum of the abilities and intentions of its members, the
various nations of the world which belong. The United States cannot get
the
United Nations to authorize a military strike against Iraq due the
United
Nations Charter. The UN Security Council is the principal organ with
responsibility and its five permanent members - Russia, France, Britain,
China and the United States each have the power of veto. Giving the
current stance of Russian and France, the United States cannot be
guaranteed of passing a resolution authorizing the use of force. The UN
resolution passed in 1990 which enabled the US and its allies to attack
Iraq was only passed when China abstained and the United States
manufactured consent amongst almost all of the other 10 members by using
carrot and stick tactics. Only two countries voted against - Cuba which
had nothing to lose and Yemen. Yemen was told later by US Secretary of
State James Baker that that was the most expensive vote they had ever
cast
(the US cancelled an aid package to Yemen as a result).

What relevance does this have for Hawaii? Many see the United Nations
as
the avenue for the decolonization of Hawaii to take place. I certainly
agree. But the level of control and influence that the United States
can
exert over other nations using carrot and stick type tactics makes it
extremely difficult for Hawaii to get reinscribed on the list of
non-self
governing territories and to get decolonized after that. Many member
nations may be sympathetic to Hawaii's cause but what would they do when
faced with the loss of US trade or aid?

On another note, its been interesting listening to the all comments
regarding the United States made by list members. I don't how many of
you
know this, but outside of the States, there is a common perception that
a
lot of Americans are a bunch of paranoid, delusional conspiracists.
Certainly I would agree that most Americans love a good conspiracy. At
its
most basic level, I think that the United States is being intrinsically
self-interested. I don't think it has anything to do with Clinton's
sleaze
scandal for the simple reason that the independent prosecutor Starr will
base his case on his evidence and not on some crisis overseas. However,
one possibility that you could use is that by precipitating a foreign
policy crisis, Clinton could argue that he could not be tried or peached
because it would not be in the national interest as the nation needed
its
commander-in-chief.

As for Saddam Hussein, I have no sympathy for anyone anyone who goes
around
using chemical and biological weapons against his own citizens. I have
no
sympathy for anyone who bemoans the cost of the sanctions against the
ordinary citizens of Iraq and yet has enough money to live in luxury and
build new palaces. Anybody feeling sorry for Hussein and who the United
States is treating him should go read up on the Baath Party and how
Hussein
came and has remained in power.

Hello all. This is something I received from a organizer of Voices In
The Wilderness,an anti-U.S. embargo in Iraq, anti-US imperialism group
based in Chicago. It concerns the planned military action against Iraq.
I would like to urge everyone to seriously consider the
humanimplication of the planned military action. When the US went to
war in the Gulf 8 years ago, there were many protests around the
country and world. But most of these went unseen and unheard, ignored
by the corporatedominated media. A one sided slaughter, or shall we
say, high techmassacre, followed, for the sake of oil and US "vital
national interest".By conservative measures, 300,000 Iraqi soliders
and 40,000 civilianswerekilled. The war and the subsequent embargo has
killed more than 1 millionand half people in Iraq. It is time to stop.
Now we are on the brink of another war, another round of shedding
theblood of "Collateral Damage" for consumption on TV, in our cars,
andcorporate profit. More military action will only result in more
death ofinnocent Iraqi civilians, and a possible fall out of chemical
andbiological agents; while do nothing to stop Saddam Hussain, only
tobolster his standing as an anti-imperialist fighter, according to
BBCand other news agencies' measure of Iraqi public opinion. Following
the piece is a list of actions and organization around the USopposing
the renewed military build up in the Gulf and plan to bombIraq. Please

THE UNITED States government has climaxed months of propaganda and

such an assault would not kill innocent civilians. While then-U.S.
Secretary of Defence Caspar Weinbergerproclaimed it "was impossible"
that civilians werekilled by surprise U.S. air strikes against the
sleeping Libyan citiesofTripoli and Benghazi in April 1986, we now
know hundreds of civilianswerekilled. It is impossible to bomb cities
without killing civilians. In the last three days of his presidency
January 17-19, 1993, GeorgeBushordered hundreds of cruise missiles and
air strikes to be launchedagainstIraq causing scores of civilian
deaths. Onecruise missile struck the Al Rashid Hotel killing two hotel
serviceemployees. U.S. intelligence agencies believed Saddam Hussein
was toattend an international Islamic meeting in the Al Rashid at the
time. When President Clinton ordered 23 cruise missiles to be launched
towardBaghdad on June 26, 1993, justifying his acts by citing the
right toself-defence under Article 51 of the U.N. Charter, they managed
to kill dozens of civilians including the internationallyknown Layla
Al-Altar, artist and director general of Iraq's NationalCentre for
Arts, and her husband when a missile hit their home. The United States
has made a shooting gallery of the "Cradle ofCivilisation." People
live there. Their lives are threatened and somearelost every time the
U.S. decides, for its own politicalinterests, to attack. When the
Security Council authorises, or condones, such attacks, it, too, is
guilty of crimes against humanity. Attacks against nuclear,
biological, or chemical plants and otherinherently dangerous
facilities violate international law because theyexpose civilian
populations to death and injury. TheGeneral Assembly of the United
Nations passed a resolution on Dec. 4,1990, specifically prohibiting
any attacks on Iraq's two nuclearfacilities. The U.S. ignored the
resolution. OnJan. 23, 1991, General Colin Powell announced Iraq's
"two operatingreactors...are both gone. They're down. They're
finished." On Jan. 30,General Norman Schwarzkopf boasted hisforces had
attacked 18 chemical, 10 biological and three nuclear plants.By Feb.
4, 1991, a French military spokesperson was reported to say
thechemical fallout was being detected throughout Iraq. See,
e.g.,FinancialTimes (London) Feb. 4, 1991; Medical Educational
TrustReport, Background Papers, July 1991, p 15. U.S. forces fired
more than900 tonnes of depleted uranium in missiles and shells into
Iraq leaving unretrievable, deadly radioactive matterin the soil and
water forever. The U.S. showed no concern for thecivilian population
of Iraq. It cannot be expected to show more now. The Security Council
and the General Assembly should immediately admonishthe United States
that it must not commit any armed assault, or other grave threats to
peace, against Iraq. It shouldcondemn the repeated uses of false
propaganda employed to create fearandhatred toward Iraq such as the
recent false claims that photographsprovedIraq tested chemical weapons
against prisoners. The Security Council should announce that after
seven years no credibleevidence has been found that Iraq is
manufacturing or possesses new nuclear, chemical, or biological
weapons, and that Iraq has the same rights accorded to every nation to
refuseinspectors that it deems a threat to its national security. See,
e.g.Chemical Weapons, Convention Implementation Act of 1997. How else
could Iraq consider inspections of the residences of itspresident and
high officials by U.S. military officers who served inU.S.intelligence
capacities during the 1991 bombing of Iraq? Above all, the Security
Council must act now to end the sanctionsagainstIraq. They are the
direct cause of the deaths of a million and a halfpeople, the majority
infants, children, chronically ill persons and theelderly. They are
genocide as defined bythe Convention Against Genocide, and take
several hundred more liveseachday. There can be no link between
thesesanctions which afflict the weakest members of society and any
acts ofthe government of Iraq. International law prohibits the use
ofstarvationas a weapon even in times of war. In this moment of
crisis, the Security Council and the General Assemblymust renounce all
sanctions which impact on an entire society, killingandinjuring its
most vulnerable members. They must prohibit the use of punitive missile
and air strikes by onenation against another and specifically a
superpower against adefenselesspeople.
