February 2nd to 6th is Eating Disorder Awareness Week. Various awareness
raising events are happening throughout Vancouver.

Queen Elizabeth Theatre

Eelam Tamils of British Columbia demonstrate against 50 years of colonial
rule by the Sinhalese over the Tamil nation. The demonstration will march
along Georgia street to the Vancouver Art Gallery (north side).

Part of weekly protests against Shell for their role in environmental

A Community Gathering Challenging Corporate Rule
Carnegie Center, Main and Hastings

Saturday, February 7th, 11am to 6pm 

A day-long series of workshops and discussions by members of the East
Vancouver community.  Morning workshops include: "Housing, Squatting and
Guerilla Gardening,"  "Update on Chiapas" and "Alternative Health Options:
A Critical Look at the Medical Industry". Afternoon workshops: "Police
Brutality in the Downtown Eastside", "What is the MAI?" and the "Politics
of Hemp". Childcare is available and food will be served. The Carnegie
Center is wheelchair accessible. 
 
Sunday, February 8th, 10am to 1pm

A continuation of Saturday's proceedings with an open plenary to discuss
upcoming actions and the idea of parallel governance and popular
assemblies. This session will take place in the Auditorium of the Carnegie
Center.

and Michael Healey, UBC scientist, on Prospects for Sustainability in the

for violations of civil and constitutional rights during APEC.
